Kareena was born to Sindhi-speaking Babita and Punjabi-speaking Randhir Kapoor on21stSeptember 1980 in Bombay, India. She has an older sister, Karisma.
She born in a family that has several generations of actors, including paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, her grandfather, Raj Kapoor, her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi and Rajiv and her aunt, Neetu Singh, Kendall & Jennifer. The wives of Rishi and Shashi respectively. On the side of the mother, her grandfather, Hari Shivdasani, and aunt, Sadhana are supporting their own rights.
As a child she studied at the Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Mumbai and thereafter she enrolled in Dehra Dun’s prestigious Welham Boarding School. Then relocated to Harvard about three months to a course in information technology and microcomputers. After she return to india, joined the Government Law College, Churchgate, Mumbai, but a year later, she left in the Kishore Namite Kapoor drama school.
Her father Randhir is very proud of his daughters and wanted to keep getting married, and the seat removed, according to Kapoor family tradition. This led to irreconcilable differences between her parents, which eventually led to divorce, with both sisters leaving their dad to live out with her mother.
Her debut film was in year 2000 with "Refugee", with the debut of Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek.She went on to appear in 31 other Hindi movies, and so far have four awards for her performance in "Refugee", "Chameli", "Dev" and "Omkara".
